Benjamin C. Eloff, MS, PhD is currently serving as the Associate Director for Innovation Policy and Processes in the Accelerate Clinical Innovation Initiative in the Office of the Secretary, HHS.  In this capacity, he works with partners throughout HHS and in the private sector to better understand the biomedical innovation ecosystem through mapping the processes for and developing metrics to assess how new medical products move from early ideation and discovery through development to reach patients, and uses these measures to align incentives and reduce risk for innovation into specific priorities. Dr. Eloff is also co-chairing the HHS Lab-to-Market Subcommittee, establishing measures to maximize the impact of federal research spending.  Dr. Eloff has previously served in multiple roles at FDA in the Center for Devices and Radiological Health and in the Office of the Commissioner as a product reviewer, senior scientific program manager, and most recently as deputy director of the Division of Epidemiology in the Center for Devices and Radiological Health. Research interests include cardiac electrophysiology and methodological development to support development and use of high-quality real-world evidence. An Eagle Scout, Dr. Eloff attended Case Western Reserve University, where he received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (1998) and M.S. (2001) and Ph.D. (2005) degrees in Biomedical Engineering.
