Lisa Lang, MPP is Assistant Director for Health Services Research Information at the National Library of Medicine (NLM) and Head of its National Information Center on Health Services Research and Health Care Technology (NICHSR). She is responsible for the NLM’s activities to support the information needs of the health services research and policy communities, as well as the public health workforce. Ms. Lang also oversees the NIH Common Data Element Repository as well as other NLM activities intended to facilitate use of designated health data standards and health informatics for health services research and public health practice, including patient-centered outcomes research, comparative effectiveness research, performance measurement, patient safety and quality improvement. Before joining NLM in 2007, Ms. Lang worked on performance measurement and value-based purchasing, as well as legislation and policy, at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and also spent more than a decade focusing on quality and consumer protection issues as a Senior Health Policy Analyst in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, Department of Health and Human Services. She received a Masters in Public Policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University and a B.A. from Stanford University in Psychology and Russian Language.
